Co-Occurring Disorder Treatment

Drug addiction can start with depression, anxiety, a traumatic experience, or other disorders. Diagnosing and treating these illnesses with addiction is the corner stone of our co-occurring disorder treatment.

The abuse of alcohol and drugs often begins with an attempt to self-medicate depression, anxiety, the pain of a traumatic experience, or a diagnosis such as bipolar disorder or other mood disorders. In addition, drug abuse can often manifest in symptoms that resemble mental illness. Within the first three to five days of a client admitting into Hotel California by the Sea’s addiction treatment program, a psychiatric evaluation will be completed. Additionally, each of our clients are evaluated by our Medical Doctors and Psychiatric Providers who are all certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

Once sober, underlying issues related to mood disorders often make it difficult for individuals to manage the symptoms associated with their dependence on alcohol or drugs. That is why at Hotel California by the Sea we utilize psychological testing to determine any underlying issues and it is why our clients meet with a psychiatrist on a consistent basis while in our care. In addition, our clients are also paired with licensed therapists who specialize in specific co-occurring disorders. Treating addiction in tandem with any co-occurring disorders among highly credentialed specialists is the cornerstone of our co-occurring disorders treatment program.
