Inpatient Rehab in Orange County for Substance Abuse Issues
Individuals suffering with a substance use disorder may require specialized addiction treatment at an inpatient rehab facility. Substance abuse treatment is intended to help individuals cease compulsive drug seeking behavior and use.
Drug addiction and alcoholism are generally chronic disorders characterized by occasional relapses. Because of this, short-term treatment at an inpatient rehab is usually not sufficient to maintain lasting recovery. HCBTS encourages long-term substance abuse treatment in an alcohol and drug rehab setting. HCBTS offers alcohol and drug rehab programs at the inpatient and outpatient levels. Offering a full continuum of care enables us to work with clients over a period of 90 days or more, supporting them though a step-down transition process from inpatient rehab to outpatient programming.
Did You Know?
The use of alcohol, illicit drugs and prescription opioids costs the US upwards of 520 billion dollars per year in expenses related to lost work productivity, healthcare and crime.
Substance abuse treatment at HCBTS can start at our inpatient rehab facilities which include medically managed detoxification services and residential treatment. From residential treatment in a comfortable home-like setting, clients may choose to transition into one of HCBTS’ outpatient programs. We believe that long-term substance abuse treatment allows individuals time and space to work with professionals on strengthening their motivation and coping baselines, which in turn leads to pro-recovery behaviors after treatment.
Upon arrival at Hotel California by the Sea’s substance abuse treatment facility, clients are assessed by medical and mental health professionals at the alcohol and drug rehab centers to ascertain their immediate needs.
- Quantity of substances used prior to arrival at inpatient rehab
- Frequency of use (daily, sporadic, or binge episodes)
- Duration of use (length of time) and age of onset
- Medical conditions related or unrelated to substance use
- Specific psychiatric diagnoses or undiagnosed symptoms of mental illness
- Presence of drug induced psychosis or other psychiatric symptoms
- Number of previous substance abuse treatment attempts
- Current living arrangements (houseless, lives alone, with family etc.)
- Social support
- Family support
- Willingness to change and openness to recovery
This information allows the professionals at HCBTS’ substance abuse treatment programs to best support individuals throughout their stay.
Progress and improvement made between these initial assessments and ongoing care is monitored. In this way, adjustments can be made to an individual’s treatment plan to best cater to a person’s needs.
Therapies Used in Inpatient Rehab
Substance abuse treatment is diverse in that there are often multiple modalities used. HCBTS’ alcohol and drug rehab facilities are highly structured, and provide therapies and activities designed to help clients examine damaging beliefs and destructive behavior patterns. Therapy offered at HCBTS includes:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Group Therapy
- 12-Step Programs
- Marriage and Family Counseling
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)
- Meditation groups
By using these types of therapy in substance abuse treatment, individuals are encouraged to explore and adopt more constructive ways to solve problems and develop coping strategies. In this way, clients have an increased chance of abstaining from drug use and maintaining abstinence.
Levels of Care for Substance Use Disorders
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, inpatient rehab and residential treatment can be especially effective in treating those with co-occurring mental health disorders. At HCBTS, a variety of evidence-informed therapeutic methods are utilized to help clients live a substance-free lifestyle after treatment.
In addition to inpatient treatment, HCBTS offers outpatient treatment programs. Continuation of substance abuse treatment at the outpatient levels after inpatient rehab is recommended for continued support in early recovery. HCBTS’ outpatient programs offer both individual and group therapy with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and multidimensional family therapy.

What Is Substance Abuse?
By definition, a substance use disorder is a disease that affects a person’s brain and behavior and leads to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal drug or medication. Alcohol is indeed considered a drug. Someone suffering with a substance use disorder may continue using the drug despite the harm it causes.
Attempts to stop using harmful substances may cause extreme physical cravings and cause individuals to feel sick or experience withdrawal symptoms. Help from a treatment program such as an inpatient or outpatient alcohol and drug rehab may be necessary to overcome an active substance use disorder
