Going to rehab can be a confusing process. Not every treatment center follows the same policies and procedures or allows the same items in treatment. Therefore, we’ve created a resource page for you to refer to before your treatment stay. Your insurance may cover substance abuse treatment at Hotel California by the Sea. At HCBTS, we accept most insurances. Hotel California by the Sea is ready to work with you and your health insurance company. Visit our Insurance Verification page to verify your benefits.
At this time, Hotel California by the Sea does not accept state insurance. However, we are ready to work with you in finding a financial option that will fit your needs, which may include payment plans and sliding scales.
Yes, HCBTS clients can smoke or vape in designated areas, outside of programming hours and on breaks between programming sessions.
We advise that you do not bring any prescription or over-the-counter medications to outpatient treatment. Expired medications and loose pills will not be allowed. Most clients who take medication will do so before or after their programming hours at the times their physician prescribes.
Due to the fact that outpatient treatment requires limited hours of patients’ time, and that patients may see family and friends outside of our limited programming hours, we generally don’t offer family visits during outpatient treatment hours. However, HCBTS does offer family therapy and a monthly family educational program to clients and their loved ones. These are healthy environments and unparalleled opportunities to visit with friends and family members in a structured and supportive way. In adherence to our program guidelines, we ask that clients try to participate in their outpatient programming at all designated hours and scheduled times in their entirety. Lunch breaks and other breaks will be offered to clients in outpatient treatment. We ask that our clients follow their treatment schedule to the best of their ability unless an emergency or other important appointment (which must be approved by a clinician) should arise.
• Motivational books or useful magazines for any down time
• Sweaters and other forms of layered clothing
• IDs (driver’s license, company ID, passport, insurance card, etc)
• A notebook or journal to document your rehab journey
• Phone (to be kept off during programming hours)
Hotel California by the Sea provides a daily lunch to all clients in our outpatient program.
Please do not bring:
• Products that might have alcohol (some examples would include hairspray, perfume, hand sanitizer, mouthwash, or cologne)
• Items with the ingredient CBD, such as pills, sprays, or lotions
• Any pre work-out supplements or energy drinks

Unfortunately, no pets are allowed in our recovery facility. (Secret: We all wish we could bring our pets, too!)
Hotel California by the Sea, St. Louis, Missouri, welcomes all people into our rehab center, regardless of their sex, age, gender, or financial status. We provide and protect client safety and care, and we accept all who wish to enter our facility and get sober from drugs or alcohol.
The Monthly Family Program created and provided at Hotel California by the Sea is designed to educate family and loved ones on the science of addiction. We also facilitate and support the healing and reintegration process between clients and their loved ones.
Children who are sixteen years of age and older are allowed to participate in Hotel California by the Sea’s Family Program here in St. Louis, Missouri.
